With Mayweather-Ortiz coming up this weekend, let's get in the boxing mood and take a look at former US heavyweight amateur champion Adam Willett (from North Bellport) and his inspiring story.
Willett was working as a security guard at South Country High School in April, 2010, when he was shot after trying to diffuse an altercation between two students and two older men in the parking lot of a nearby shopping center. One of the men shot him before driving off.
Willett was in a coma for one week and returned to boxing on March 17, 2011.
